Arrival in Caracas international Airport
On clearing customs you will be met by a Fly Fishing Los Roques representative identifiable by a white placard with our logo on it. The sign will have also have your names on the back. Security is an issue in Venezuela so please confirm that your driver is from Fly Fishing Los Roques, he knows where he is taking you and where you are going to avoid against mistaken identity. You will be transported from there in an AC car to the Hotel about 10 minutes drive from the airport.
In the unlikely event that you do not see our rep on exiting customs please call any one qf the contact numbers listed below. Please ensure that you have informed us of any flight changes that you may have made prior to your departure, as this is the most common cause of mix-ups.
Domestic Flight Details to Los Roques
On arrival in Caracas our representative will inform you of exact timing for your movements to Los Roques. This will normally involve an early morning departure from the hotel at approx 06:00. You will be collected from the hotel and taken by car or mini bus to Maiquetia Domestic Airport, situated alongside international airport. Our representative will provide assistance booking you onto the flight.
Private Charter Flights
For those wishing to maximise your time on the island we can arrange for a private charter flight which will get you to Los Roques on the day of arrival. (Providing there are no serious delays with your international flight). The charter flight can take up to 6 people although including luggage 5 may be the upper limit.
We try to offer the most bespoke package in order that you get the very most out of your trip. We will therefore amend our daily program to suit your requirements, whilst taking into account the prevailing conditions.
Our regular schedule however is essentially as follows
0600 Hrs – Dawn start for those who are keen. A bracing cup of coffee and then fishing along the waterfront on the beach or the pier. This is when the minnow’s shoals come in from the deep and are then assaulted by the birds, Jacks and Tarpon. Very often this is the most explosive part of the day.
0730 Hrs – Break for breakfast at the Posada
0800 Hrs – Load up the boats and then depart with the guides to any of the numerous areas of the park for the mornings fishing. Specialise in Bonefish, juvenile & or larger Tarpon, Barracuda or a mix of anything that happens to be on offer.
1300 Hrs – Break for lunch. Usually we will take a packed lunch from the Posada however we may eat at any of the local fishing huts dotted around the various fishing zones. Alternatively you may wish to stay in the boat with a rod in one hand and the days catch in the other cruising
1500-1600 Hrs – Return to the Posada for a siesta out of the heat of the midday sun. Alternatively continue fishing locally, swim, snorkel or take some more sun.
1930 – Hrs– Drinks and supper at your posada. There are numerous bars on the waterfront for those who would like a sundowner pre or post dinner.
